Dr. Stephen Shield graduated from Melbourne
University with a Bachelor of Dentistry in 1976. After just two years of working in General dentistry, Stephen was asked by Melbourne University to be a demonstrator in conservative dentistry for 3rd-year dentistry students. Stephen then started his Masters in Dental Science studying Growth & Development and Cleft Palate and Orthodontics. Dr. Stephen has worked in a variety of highly prestigious roles in both General Dentistry and Orthodontics over the last 40 years. Transforming thousands of smiles, Dr. Stephen brings a wealth of experience and caring nature to our practice.
Dr Yousef started his dental journey in 2003 when he completed his studies in Dental
Technology and began work as a dental technician. Having ignited his passion for smiles, Yousef
went on to study dentistry and graduated with first-class honors. Yousef was then accepted into the
Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedic Masters program and successfully obtained his master’s in
orthodontics after five years of full-time specialty training. Dr Yousef has worked as an orthodontist
in a number of countries around the world. He moved to Australia with his family in 2019 and has
quickly fallen in love with our beautiful country and people.
After working in roles in a variety of industries including sales, marketing and as a solicitor, A.J found himself working in the orthodontic space. Since 2014, he has been growing orthodontic practices in Australia and overseas. While working as a consultant to some of the largest orthodontic practices in the country, he saw an opportunity to service a portion of the market that was being ignored which is why he opened The Smile Outlet. He loves playing and coaching basketball and appreciates a good lawn.
Jules is a Registered Dental Hygienist. Jules graduated in Adelaide in 1982 with an Advanced Diploma of Oral Hygiene and moved to the Gold Coast in 2003. She spent her first 16 years as a Hygienist in General and Periodontal Dentistry, followed by 24 years specialising in special needs patients, Craniofacial and Orthodontics. Jules has wealth of knowledge and experience in all things “smiles”. Outside of work, Jules spends time with her 3 Border Collies, husband and two sons.
Sam has 20 years of dental experience and 10 years of experience in Orthodontics. After graduating
from UQ Sam began her career in Sydney and shortly made her way back to the Gold Coast.
Meg graduated from Griffith University in 2022 with distinction for bachelor’s degree in
Dental Hygiene. Meg completed 1 year in Orthodontics, 1 year in Perio, and 1 in General Dental. The
the highlight of her job is seeing lots of friendly faces every day.
Regan is our Clinical Coordinator with over 21 years of experience in dental and ortho.
Regan brings a wealth of knowledge to our clinic specialising in Spark Aligners.
After studying a degree in Dentistry for 5 years in Brazil whilst also studying courses in
Dental Aesthetics and Endodontics Lucas has found himself living in Australia enjoying the beaches
and footvolley. He is currently in the process of validating his degree in dentistry here in Australia.
Beata graduated as a dental technician in Poland and after working for 5 years in Poland
made the move to Australia where she has worked in dental and ortho for 5 years. Beata loves to
spend her weekends at the beach with her son.
Andrea was our very first patient here at The Smile Outlet whilst working as a nurse she
loved the atmosphere here so much she joined our team in 2021 and has worked in the clinic, front
desk and now steri.
Jhaz joined our team whilst still at high school during a traineeship and now works for us as a
Dental Assistant while studying Digital Media.
Adriane was a registered nurse in Brazil who moved to New Zealand until she decided to
have a change of pace and change careers to Dental nursing which brought her to Australia. Adriane
loves to spend time with her family going on bike rides and other outdoor activities.
Julia came to The Smile Outlet with a legal assistant background and joined our team at
reception. She has been with us for 2 years now and is now our front-desk team leader. Julia is more
popularly known as Daphney’s mum (our support dog).
With 6 years experience both on the Gold Coast and Sydney Amber has worked as a Dental
Assistant, Clinic Coordinator and now Treatment Coordinator. When amber isn’t at work she is at the
park with her dog Murphy.
If you are a patient of ours you may recognise Libby from the Clinic as a Dental Nurse with
over 3 years of DA experience but she has recently joined the front desk team as a receptionist.
The newest friendly face here at the Smile Outlet, Emily has just joined our team taking all of
our records. Emily has over 4 years of experience in orthodontics and loves watching smile
transformations.

They were amazing, was a bit sceptical as the price was considerably cheaper then others but they were all professional, explained everything, made my child feel at ease and the premise was prestige like brand new. They even followed up to check on her a few days later after getting her braces on I honestly can’t fault them. They knew what they were doing and genuinely felt like they cared about getting the right treatment for my daughter then just getting my money! Would definitely recommend.
