Dr. Stephen Shield graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Dentistry in 1976. After just two years of working in general dentistry, Stephen was asked by Melbourne University to be a demonstrator in conservative dentistry for third-year dentistry students. He then began his Master’s in Dental Science, studying Growth & Development, Cleft Palate, and Orthodontics. Dr. Stephen has worked in a variety of highly prestigious roles in both general dentistry and orthodontics over the last 40 years. Having transformed thousands of smiles, Dr. Stephen brings a wealth of experience and a caring nature to our practice.

Dr. Yousef started his dental journey in 2003 when he completed his studies in Dental Technology and began working as a dental technician. Having ignited his passion for smiles, Yousef went on to study dentistry and graduated with first-class honors. He was then accepted into the Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedic Master’s program and successfully obtained his master’s in orthodontics after five years of full-time specialty training. Dr. Yousef has worked as an orthodontist in several countries around the world. He moved to Australia with his family in 2019 and has quickly fallen in love with our beautiful country and people.

After working in various industries, including sales, marketing, and law, A.J found himself in the orthodontic field. Since 2014, he has been growing orthodontic practices in Australia and overseas. While consulting for some of the largest orthodontic practices in the country, he saw an opportunity to serve a portion of the market that was being overlooked, which led him to open The Smile Outlet. He loves playing and coaching basketball and appreciates a well-kept lawn.

Jules is a Registered Dental Hygienist who graduated in Adelaide in 1982 with an Advanced Diploma of Oral Hygiene. She moved to the Gold Coast in 2003. Jules spent her first 16 years as a hygienist in general and periodontal dentistry, followed by 24 years specializing in special needs patients, craniofacial conditions, and orthodontics. Jules has a wealth of knowledge and experience in all things “smiles.” Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her three Border Collies, husband, and two sons.

Regan is our office manger, with over 21 years of experience in dental and orthodontics. Regan brings a wealth of knowledge to our clinic, specializing in Spark Aligners.

Sam has 20 years of dental experience and 10 years of experience in orthodontics. After graduating from UQ, Sam began her career in Sydney and shortly thereafter made her way back to the Gold Coast. She enjoys boxing and running and spends her weekends with her puppy and kids at the beach. The highlight of Sam’s job is seeing lots of friendly faces every day.

Beata graduated as a dental technician in Poland, and after working there for five years, she moved to Australia where she has worked in dental and orthodontics for another five years. Beata loves to spend her weekends at the beach with her son.

Jhaz joined our team whilst still at high school during a traineeship and now works for us as a Dental Assistant while studying Digital Media.

Adriane was a registered nurse in Brazil and moved to New Zealand before deciding she needed a change pace and career to dental nursing, which brought her here to Australia. Adriane loves to spend time with her family, going on bike rides and other outdoor activities.

Amber is our Treatment Coordinator at The Smile Outlet. With 6 years of experience on both the Gold Coast and in Sydney, Amber brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team. She has worked as a Dental Assistant, Clinic Coordinator, and now excels as our Treatment Coordinator. When Amber isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time at the park with her dog, Murphy. Amber’s dedication to patient care and her extensive experience make her an invaluable member of our team.

Meet Julia, our Front-Desk Team Leader at The Smile Outlet! Julia joined our team 2 years ago with a background as a legal assistant but settled into her role as a member of our reception staff. Beyond her role at the front desk, Julia is more popularly known as Daphne’s mum, our beloved support dog. Julia ensures that every patient’s experience at our clinic is nothing short of exceptional.

Andrea was our very first patient here at The Smile Outlet while working as a nurse, she loved the atmosphere so much that she joined our team in 2021. Since then, she has worked in the clinic, at the front desk, and now in sterilization.

Gabriella, a Canadian, graduated from Fanshawe College in 2019 with a Dental Hygiene diploma. After five years of making people smile in general practice, she decided to follow her dream into the exciting world of orthodontics. When she’s not transforming smiles, Gabriella loves to explore Australia’s great outdoors with her partner, diving into adventures like beach trips, hiking through scenic trails, and camping.

Chelsea, our Records Nurse at The Smile Outlet! Chelsea’s journey with us began as a patient, and her positive experience inspired her to join our team. Now, she is responsible for taking all new patient photos, X-rays and scans, ensuring that we have the best records to create beautiful smiles. Chelsea’s firsthand experience as a patient gives her a unique perspective and a compassionate approach to her work.

Jen, our Steri Nurse at The Smile Outlet! Jen’s journey with us began as a patient, and her positive experiences here inspired her to become a part of our team. Now, she plays a crucial role in our clinic, ensuring that all our equipment is properly sterilized and safe for use. Jen’s attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene make her an invaluable member of our staff. We are delighted to have her on board, bringing her dedication and care to every aspect of her work.

Meet Emily, our newest addition to the reception team! With over 4 years of experience in orthodontics, Emily brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our clinic. She has a genuine passion for watching smile transformations and is dedicated to providing exceptional service to our patients

Ellane is one of our dedicated Dental Nurses at The Smile Outlet! Originally from Brazil, Ellane studied Dentistry at the University of Fortaleza. She moved to Australia in 2018 and has become a valuable part of our team. Ellane brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for patient care to our clinic. Her diverse background and commitment to excellence ensure that our patients receive the highest quality of care.

Tanele is an experienced Oral Health Therapist with a bachelors degree from the University of Queensland (2002) and a cert in Adult Scope Dentistry from the University of Melbourne (2016).
Passionate about preventative dentistry, Tanele loves the challenge of empowering her patients to achieve and maintain their best smile. Her favourite part of Ortho is the final deband appointment where you’ll find her just as excited as her patient to see their new smile revealed!
Outside of work, she’s a busy mum of 5 and loves to cook, play tennis and catch up with friends for coffee!
